GGLF has done first successful Living Donor Liver Transplant of Gujarat. GGLF also has to its credit the first paediatric liver transplant and first liver transplant without blood transfusion in Gujarat.

Dr. Chirag Desai is one of the most accomplished Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgeons in India. Beginning his career as a surgeon 28 years ago, he has now worked for over 20 years in the field of Gl, HPB and Liver Transplant. Dr Chirag Desai and Team performed first successful Living Donor Liver Transplant of Gujarat. Dr Chirag Desai was appointed as the Honorary Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon to HE the Governor of Gujarat.

Dr. Chirag Desai does both Living and Cadaver Donor Transplant for adult as well as pediatric patients. He is especially interested in the treatment of Liver Tumours and treatment of Portal Hypertension. He has a large series of pancreatic necrosectomy with excellent result.
Treatment of liver tumours (Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)) is complex and needs surgery, Liver Transplantation, Chemoembolisation (TACE), Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), Radiotherapy (SRBT) as well as drug therapy. Treatment needs to be individualized for each patient.
